How to configure an AI writer to write like you

Ever wished you could clone yourself — at least the part that writes proposals, captions, or endless “About” pages? Good news: you can. With the YOU-AI System, you’ll train an AI writer to sound just like you — tone, rhythm, quirks and all — so your content stays authentic even when you’re not the one typing.

This isn’t sci-fi. It’s smart systems thinking.

🧩 The YOU-AI Framework

The YOU-AI process runs through five stages — Y-O-U-A-I — each designed to capture a different side of how you write, think, and communicate.

0. Preparation
1. Y — Yourself: Personal details about the author
2. O — Offer: Business details and ideal client profile
3. U — Unqualified Words: Your blacklist of words to avoid
4. A — Authenticity: Your style guide
5. I — Instructions: Your custom AI ruleset

You’ll end up with a complete “AI clone kit” — a Google Drive folder filled with documents that your AI can reference to write on your behalf with uncanny accuracy.

⚙️ 0. Preparation

Create a folder in Google Drive called:
[Your Name] - YOU-AI Assets

👉 Open Google Drive and make a new folder.

That’s where each of your five assets will live. You’ll add to it as you move through this process. (If you want to see what “done” looks like, check out the John Smith Example folder.)

👤 1. Y — Yourself

Personal Details About the Author

This is where your AI learns who you are — what you care about, your backstory, and your way of seeing the world.
It’s the human layer that makes the machine sound like you.

How to build it:

Ask your AI (ChatGPT, Claude, or similar) to interview you:

“Act as an in-depth interviewer to help me document my personal identity, background, and key influences…”

Let it ask you one question at a time about your:

  • Personal background and values
  • Influences and inspirations
  • Education and expertise
  • Interests and passions
  • Life journey and defining moments

Then, once the conversation is done, ask it to generate a report:

“Based on all this information, create a comprehensive guide defining my personal voice and speaking style…”

The goal: a 3–5 page document that captures your tone, vocabulary, rhythm, humour, and emotional range. Save it as Y – Yourself.docx in your YOU-AI folder.

💼 2. O — Offer

Your Business & Ideal Client Profile

Next, teach your AI what you do, who you serve, and why you do it.

Step 1: The Interview

Ask:

“Please interview me to create a detailed guide on my business and ideal client profile…”

Cover your mission, audience, pricing, offers, and values. Let it feel like a brand-therapy session.

Step 2: The Report

Then prompt:

“Based on all the info above, create a comprehensive business profile with an executive summary, USP, audience, offers, brand story, marketing strategy, operations, goals, and social impact.”

You now have your official business “DNA file.” Add it to your folder as O – Offer.docx.

🚫 3. U — Unqualified Words

Blacklist of Words to Avoid

Every writer has words that make them cringe. Your AI needs to know them.

Create a list of “banned” words and phrases that don’t sound like you (like skyrocket, supercharge, or at the forefront).

You can start with this list — it’s a goldmine of corporate cringe:

(eager, eagerly, refreshing, poised, tapestry, groundbreaking, synergy, next-level, intuitive, bespoke, paradigm shift…)

Tell your AI:

“Before outputting content, review for banned words and rewrite any sentences that contain them.”

This simple step keeps your AI sounding human — not like a marketing robot.

Save it as U – Unqualified Words.docx.

✍️ 4. A — Authenticity

Your Style Guide

This is where you distil your signature writing patterns — your tone, rhythm, and quirks — into a repeatable formula.

How to do it:

Copy this instruction to your AI:

“You are a linguistics and NLP expert. Analyse the following text and create a style guide that defines my tone, mood, pacing, sentence structure, transitions, and recurring language habits.”

Then paste in five of your best pieces of writing — emails, blog posts, captions, anything that feels like you on a good day.

The AI will return a detailed style guide covering:

  • Voice and tone
  • Mood and pacing
  • Sentence structure
  • Word choice
  • Transition style
  • Signature traits

Save it as A – Authenticity.docx in your YOU-AI folder.

🧭 5. I — Instructions

Your Custom AI Behaviour

Now you bring everything together into one unified system of rules.

Ask your AI:

“Based on everything you know about me and my business, complete this template for my AI writer…”

Then paste in the full Custom Instructions template (the one beginning with ‘Author Emulation AI Clone for YOU-AI: Mastering Writing Style Replication’).

This document teaches your AI:

  • What it’s for
  • How to behave
  • What to prioritise
  • How to stay consistent
  • What not to say

Save it as I – Instructions.docx — this is the master file your AI will use when writing for you.

🪞 Putting It All Together

When you’re done, your Drive folder should look like this:

[Your Name] - YOU-AI Assets
│
├── Y - Yourself.docx
├── O - Offer.docx
├── U - Unqualified Words.docx
├── A - Authenticity.docx
└── I - Instructions.docx

These five files are the blueprint of you.
Upload them into your chosen AI tool, and you’ll have a digital clone that can write your blogs, posts, emails, or scripts — in your own voice.

💡 Final Thought

You can’t outsource authenticity, but you can teach it.
By documenting who you are, what you offer, and how you communicate, your AI writer becomes more than a tool — it becomes a creative partner that works (and writes) just like you.

Now go make your clone. You’ve earned a coffee while it writes your next post. ☕
