WhatsApp can and will ban your number on suspicion of spam. The good news: the number can be unblocked. But the best policy is to avoid getting blocked in the first place.

Why WhatsApp numbers get banned

  • WhatsApp offers its users an option to complain about those numbers who annoy annoy them with with SPAM.
  • Suspicious accounts are evaluated and how exactly the WhatsApp algorithms work are only known to Meta. The main thing is that they work and send the ban without warning. So don’t be fooled by stories about someone sending spam and not getting banned. WhatsApp algorithms work unpredictably.

Tips and Hints to avoid getting banned

  • Try to send messages that are transactional in nature. Ie the user has done something that has triggerd the message and so they are way less likely to see the message as SPAM.
  • Set up the messaging in such a way that the user is the first to write to you (the “Mark as Spam” button does not appear).
  • Encourage users to respond to to your messages which also gets rid of the “Mark as Spam” button
  • Send marketing messages your loyal database of numbers who have already engaged with you.
  • Don’t send the same messages, change them: personalize the messages (“Hi, %Customer_name%”).
  • Take advantage of the opportunity to subscribe and unsubscribe from your contact list in each message. (e.g., “Write 0 to unsubscribe”)
  • Motivate users to save your contact.
  • Avoid sending links, especially in the first message to the user.
  • New phone numbers have a greater risk of being blocked. Before connecting to a completely new number, you can use WhatsApp personally for some time (chat with other numbers so that you have a variety of incoming and outgoing messages from different numbers).
  • When you start using the bot, send no more than 6 -12 messages per minute, i.e. send messages in batches, not all at once. That means rather than bulk sending message add them to an automation that starts with a drip action. The longer your bot works, the more messages you can send and at a higher interval.
  • Warming up your number before connecting WAFlowBot is necessary in the case of new numbers as the WhatsApp algorithm discovers that there is something abnormal when the new person brings a new number and is suddenly sending bulk messages on the first day. Lean into this gradually. We we have clients who use their number in WhatsApp Up web for previous months and start normally sending a lot of messages normally.
  • Do not scan the QR immediately when registering a new account on WhatsApp from a new number or when your number is blocked and restored.
  • Avoid using virtual and free numbers from the Internet, because they have often been blocked previously and are heavily scrutinized by WhatsApp.

How to re-activate a banned WhatsApp number?

If your account is banned, you’ll see the message “Your phone number is banned from using WhatsApp.” when trying to access your WhatsApp App.
You can follow simple steps to re-activate the phone number.
Notes: Usually, the number is retrieved within minutes the first time because the process of recovering the number is automatic, and the second time it may be a little delayed.
If the ban is repeated, the account will be reviewed manually, and activation will be delayed for a long time. So be careful and use sending messages wisely to avoid your number getting banned in the first place.
